Salon Alo Wedding in Yorkville

Leslie and Chris had their own idea of what they wanted their wedding to be. It was about the people, the atmosphere, and an insanely incredible five course meal.

Leslie and Chris are a truly remarkable couple, exuding a unique blend of cool sophistication and elevated taste. They approached their wedding with a clear sense of individuality, refusing to be swayed by trends or conventional norms. Instead, they crafted a celebration that was truly their own, reflecting their personalities and preferences in every aspect of the day.

The couple exchanged their vows on a sunny spring day in the trendy neighbourhood of Yorkville in Toronto. They didn’t want the emphasis to be around the ceremony so they signed their marriage license and exchanged rings in their hotel room at the Park Hyatt with only their parents as witnesses. We hit the streets of Yorkville and visited Chris' store, AAVVGG, to create images that were both intentional and relaxed, showcasing the couple's cool and understated style.

Shooting the wedding on film added a touch of nostalgia to the day, elevating the final images with the film grain and unique colour palette produced by the Leica M6. The timeless quality of film lent well to the celebration that was all about quality, uniqueness, and individuality.

Chris and Leslie selected Salon Alo as their wedding venue as they wanted their celebration to revolve around eating incredible food, drinking unique wines, while being surrounded by their closest family. Being one of the best restaurants in the country, the reception at Salon Alo was a true feast. The menu was carefully curated to pair perfectly with the wine selection, elevating the dining experience to new heights.

The decor at Salon Alo is modern and chic, featuring an incredible green marble bar and mid-century modern furnishings. The atmosphere was sophisticated and elegant, setting the perfect tone for the intimate wedding celebration.

The couple's impeccable taste was evident in every detail, from the ambience of Salon Alo, to the expertly curated menu and wine pairing. As lovers of food, they ensured that the cuisine was nothing short of exceptional. Their unwavering commitment to doing things their way and their refusal to be limited by conventions or trends made it feel less like a typically wedding and more like a curated celebration to share with loved ones.

Throughout the evening, guests were treated to expertly paired wines with each course. The sommelier's knowledge and attention to detail ensured that each wine complemented the flavours of the food, enhancing every single course. The wine flowed freely, adding to the celebratory atmosphere of the evening. Of course, I couldn’t go on about this day without a mention of one of the most honoured guests attending, Chris and Leslie’s cute little frenchie, Rohe. He was there for it all, from the portraits to the late night dessert. As a culmination to the meal, the artful cake that Leslie has designed and created herself was presented and consumed.

Chris and Leslie have since moved to France so Leslie can pursue her formal education as a pastry chef. You can bet their life still includes incredible meals, delicious wine, and lots of moments spent with Rohe.

It was an honour to capture such an unforgettable occasion and I will always remember Leslie and Chris’ remarkable wedding at Salon Alo in Yorkville, Toronto.
